EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
UCFD is trained and committed to delivering the highest level of care. We are the primary EMS provider for the UConn Storrs and UConn Health Center Campuses. UCFD's services are equipped with 4 BLS ambulances, 2 ALS ambulances staffed with firefighters who are trained to the EMT level or higher. Firefighters are also trained in Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) in conjunction with the Police Department. Windham Hospital provides the Advanced Life Support services to the Storrs area. Based out of Willimantic, the Windham Medics serve multiple towns including UConn. UCFD headquarters in Storrs currently operates as a BLS service while the UCFD HC station is the ALS provider for the Farmington Campus.
UCFD works closely with Student Health and Wellness (SHaW) on campus. In the event of a life threatening medical condition, the department coordinates with Student Health and Wellness to provide the highest level of care.
